Meet the Wonderful Year 7's
Year 7 will be exploring the following topics in The World Around Us classes.
Reach for the Skies
Fair Enough
Life is a Journey.
Launch of the Poppy Appeal at the Castlederg Branch of the Royal British Legion
Taking Flight!
As part of their science work on forces, Year 7 pupils learned about aerodynamics and how thrust and lift help objects to fly. We had great fun testing our skills and competing to see whose plane could soar the furthest!
Robotic Hands
As part of our space topic, Year 7 pupils followed instructions to make their own robotic hands. We have learned how robots help astronauts by completing tasks in space that are too difficult or dangerous for humans.
Exploring Shadows and the Earth’s Movement
Year 7 pupils have been investigating how shadows are formed and how their position and length change as the Earth moves in relation to the Sun. Through this experiment, they explored how light travels, why shadows form, and how these observations help us understand the Earth’s rotation and the passage of time.
Year 7 Mars Rover Challenge
Year 7 pupils have put their design and engineering skills to the test by creating Mars rovers, capable of withstanding the challenging terrain of the Red Planet and collecting samples to return to Earth. The students demonstrated incredible ingenuity, creativity, and teamwork throughout the project — truly thinking like future space engineers!
