Football

Key Stage 2 pupils are invited to participate in football after school in the spring term which is always extremely popular.  Pupils are taught about the importance of exercise and are given the opportunity to develop their football skills through a range of activities and small-sided games.

Each year our school participates in a 5-a-side Primary tournament at Castlederg High School, allowing the pupils the opportunity to play competitively. There are also some school tournaments which encourage competition and team work.

Year 4 and 5 World Cup

On Tuesday 1st April there were 38 pupils in total who took part in the school football tournament between Year 4 and Year 5 pupils. Everyone played with lots of team spirit and enthusiasm with the resulting top 4 teams going through to the semi final stages. In the boys section Netherlands beat England in the final. In the girls section Germany beat Spain in the final. Well done everyone! Thank you again to Ryan Mayse for refereeing the games throughout the day.

Year 6 and 7 World Cup

On Tuesday 4th February we had 41 pupils taking part in a school football tournament. The boys played off their group games with Netherlands topping group A and France topping group B. Argentina and England were both 2nd in their group and they also qualified for the semi finals. Netherlands beat England in their semi final and France beat Argentina which left a final between Year 7s Netherlands versus Year 6s France. The final score was 4-1 to Netherlands. In the girls section there were 4 competitive teams all taking part and enjoying their games. Germany played Belgium in the first semi final while Spain played Australia in the second semi final. Year 7s Spain got the better of a mixed Year 6 and 7 team of Germany to win the final. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this school tournament and a special thanks to Ryan from RM Multisport for his refereeing throughout the morning.

Champions League Football Tournament 2024

Well done to all the boys and girls who were selected for the Champions League tournament organised by Killen Primary School at Castlederg High School. All the pupils had a fantastic and enjoyable day out. The girls team got through to the final and were narrowly beaten by St Marys PS Strabane. The boys team also got through to the final and had beaten Killen PS in penalties in the semis. They were unfortunate to get defeated in the final by penalties. This is an amazing achievement for both teams to come home with silver medals after a lot of tough competition throughout the day. Check out the photos below.
