We went on an autumn walk in school and looked at all the shapes, sizes and colours of the lovely leaves.
We had a great adventure to Gortin Glen Forest Park - we went on a long walk and we could see lots of signs of autumn.
We followed the animal clues to find the Gruffalo!
All that walking made us all hungry!
We had a great time in the playpark! Such a busy and fun day!
Our autumn topic, Down in the Woods, is helping us think about natural objects we see around us. We went to our very own woodland area and collected things to help us create a artistic masterpiece...can you guess which famous character we made?
The Gruffalo story is a Year 1 favourite and we are doing lots of learning activites about it!

Happy 2025 everyone!
The new year started off with snow, frost and ice....we thought we would make cute snowmen that would never melt!!
We are getting active to start the new year keeping fit and healthy. Look at our gymnastic moves!!
Our learning topic is called 'FABULOUS FASHION' and we are exploring all things clothes related.
We designed our own hat and mittens to keep us warm on a cold day.
Look at our Warm Winter Woolly Wear display! Cosy and cute!
We wrapped our sheep in soft wool....and thought of the journey from sheep to shelf! Do you like their peg legs? Have you any clothes made from wool?
We learnt all about tartan patterns and tried to make some ourselves...we hope you like our designs. Some used paint, others paper and lots used the computer.
We have enjoyed the story of the Elves and the Shoemaker. We used cubes to measure the length of lots of shoes and recorded the results.
We were trying to decide if this was a true story or an imaginary fairy tale......what do you think?
We measured lots of scarves to see which was the longest and which was the shortest one.
We had to remember to start at the same point to make it a fair measure test.
We did some science experiment testing to see what materials were waterproof
Little Red Riding Hood loved her red outfit with a hood. We did some data handling recording with our coats and we love our artistic story character creative display...hope you do too!
Declan, our school cook, told us all about his work uniform and how he has to wear special protective clothing for his job. Can you think of any other jobs where people wear protective clothing?
We did lots of experiments in our SOCK SCIENCE activities - we investigated socks before and after they got wet in our sock soak test, we did a stretch test to see how many cubes we needed to measure the sock before and after stretching and we also did a fill test where we estimated how many cubes would fill a sock and then we recorded the result.
Year 1 are super scientists!

Jesus Calms The Storm
We heard the story of Jesus in the boat travelling with His disciples. When a huge storm appeared the waves got so rough the disciples were worried and asked Jesus to help...Wow! A miracle took place as at His command the wind and waves stopped and were calm.
We had great fun recreating storm sounds with musical instruments and also the rough waves with our parachute. We made watery wavy art and added our stories to make a display.
We did a traffic survey to check what numbers we could see on car number plates in the school car park. Numbers 0, 2 and 5 were the most recorded. Thanks to all our Year 7 helpers!
